Overview

In the first two articles on elbow dysplasia (ED), the authors discussed the aetiology and investigation of the conditions included under this blanket term. It was explained that radio ulnar incongruity (RUI), either transient during growth or permanent, may be involved. Plain radiography may be diagnostic for osteochondrosis (OC) and ununited anconeal process (UAP), whilst advanced imaging may be required for definitive diagnosis of medial coronoid disease (MCD) and RUI. Computed tomography (CT) permits evaluation of subchondral bone, however arthroscopy is required for assessment of articular cartilage. In this article we discuss the increasingly diverse options for treatment of elbow dysplasia.
This is a PDF of an article published in VetCPD Journal. For the most current CPD we highly recommend our range of 70 Online Courses – see below for details. Please note that these articles do NOT have exams associated with them.
