I have been a veterinary nurse now for nearly forty years and obviously there is always something new to learn. This course has given me the confidence I needed to expand and relearn different aspects of anaesthesia . Everyday is a school day. I have extremely enjoyed this course and would recommend to anyone just wanting to recap and get those brain cells reengaged.

I found the anaesthesia refresher course very, very helpful and insightful. Working for longer periods in small animal practices you often fall into a certain way of working and this course helped to highlight new and useful information which I will be able to apply in practice. The course was well organised, easy to follow and actually quite fun! There was plenty of scope for further reading and Denise the lecturer was very involved with the participants and kept us engaged in conversations to help us further our knowledge. I will definitely be looking into more online courses!

This anaesthetic refresher course covers all the information needed to perform routine anaesthesia, from admittance to discharge of the patient. There will be a section on basic physiology of anaesthesia, as a means of introducing the topic. Different types of equipment, breathing systems and scavenging will be discussed, as will the use of intravenous fluids. Analgesic techniques such as constant rate infusions and the use of local anaesthesia will also be covered.
This course is designed as a refresher CPD course and is composed of a series of modules, with each module containing a recorded video webinar, notes to download and keep, plus clinical cases to deepen your understanding. The webinars are not live and can be viewed whenever works best for you.
Tutored courses run with a tutor for three weeks (the advertised dates), plus you then get continued access for a further 11 months (so 12 months in total). You can do our courses at your own pace and at times that suit you. Nothing has to be done at set times, so the courses are perfect for a world-wide audience.
Tutored courses are supplemented by a discussion forum where you can ask the tutor questions and debate topics relevant to your daily practice – this forum operates for the three weeks of the advertised course dates. Total course access is 12 months. Courses are completed with an MCQ exam (giving you 8 hours of CPD) which can be taken at any time during the 12 months the course is running.
