Course Overview

Emergency/Critical Care: Vets – Part 2  will provide you with an updated approach to some of the most common emergencies encountered in Small Animal Practice. The modules are suitable for experienced practitioners looking to update their knowledge, but also newly graduated veterinarians seeking guidance in an intimidating field of veterinary medicine. Improve your confidence and skills in caring for those emergency patients!

Emergency and Critical Care for Vets Part 1, 2 and 3 are standalone courses and can be completed in any order.

Module 1. Fluid therapy – When less is more and when more is more
Module 2. Shock – How to recognize it, and how to fix it
Module 3. Sepsis – If everything is well perfused, nothing is
Module 4. Hyperkalemia – The electrolyte that kills
Module 5. Lactate – Differentials and applications in clinical practice

Course Format

This course is designed as a refresher CPD course and is composed of a series of modules, with each module containing a recorded video webinar, notes to download and keep, plus clinical cases to deepen your understanding. The webinars are not live and can be viewed whenever works best for you.

Tutored courses run with a tutor for three weeks (the advertised dates), plus you then get continued access for a further 11 months (so 12 months in total). You can do our courses at your own pace and at times that suit you. Nothing has to be done at set times, so the courses are perfect for a world-wide audience.

Tutored courses are supplemented by a discussion forum where you can ask the tutor questions and debate topics relevant to your daily practice – this forum operates for the three weeks of the advertised course dates. Total course access is 12 months. Courses are completed with an MCQ exam (giving you 8 hours of CPD) which can be taken at any time during the 12 months the course is running.
