Enucleation Techniques in Dogs and Cats

End-stage chronic painful eyes with intractable glaucoma or suspicion of intraocular malignancy along with acutely injured and severely proptotic eyes, are the most common candidates for enucleation. This article reviews the different surgical techniques for enucleation described in the literature and the advantages and disadvantages of each approach. Common complications and postoperative considerations are also discuss.
