Scaling and crusting in dogs: Part 2 – Management*
Scaling and crusting in dogs: Part 2 – Management
Treatment of scaling & crusting should be aimed at addressing underlying root causes. Secondary scaling disorders include allergies, ectoparasitic infestations, endocrine and metabolic disorders, immune-mediated diseases, and neoplastic conditions. Correction of secondary infections and treatment of underlying causes can lead to rapid clinical improvement. Topical therapy is indicated for most dogs with scaling & crusting, irrespective of the cause.
