Dr Emi Barker

Emi is a RCVS and EBVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine, with research interests in companion animal systemic bacterial and viral infections. She is an active researcher in the use of molecular diagnostics to investigate and diagnose disease following on from her doctoral research project on companion animal haemoplasmas and post-doctoral research on feline coronavirus molecular epidemiology.

She received the BSAVA Woodrow Award for Contributions to the Advancement of Small Animal Medicine by a Qualified Veterinarian in 2023 and is currently a referral clinician at Langford Vets with post-graduate supervision and undergraduate teaching responsibilities.

She has spent most of her career in the West Country, and currently lives in Bath with husband, children, and cats.
