John Chitty

John graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1990 and gained the RCVS Certificate in Zoological Medicine in 2000, and then a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine in 2015. He ran an exotics practice in Hampshire where is caseload was 100% exotics/ zoo/ small mammal. John stepped out of practice in 2023 and currently provided consultancy and advisory services to vets, zoo collections, reintroduction projects and Local Authorities. He is a Past president of Veterinary Invertebrate Society, European Association of Avian Veterinarians and also of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association. He has numerous publications on a variety of species including writing/ editing seven textbooks, including the BSAVA Manual of Rabbit Surgery, Dentistry and Imaging.
He is currently a trustee of Vetlife and of Guinea Pig Welfare UK.
