Kieran Borgeat

Kieran has worked as a cardiologist in specialist practice for 14 years, and achieved ACVIM and ECVIM-CA Diplomate status in 2014. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive and hybrid cardiac surgery, and has pioneered a number of interventional surgeries in the UK over the last decade, including transpulmonic stent angioplasty to help dogs with challenging pulmonic stenosis, and transcatheter edge-to-edge repair and left atrial decompression to help dogs with mitral valve disease. He has lectured across the world on a number of topics, including interventional surgery, feline cardiology, and management of challenging heart failure cases. He works at Bristol Vet Specialists, where he is programme director for an ACVIM accredited residency, and currently acts as Chair of the ECVIM Cardiology Credentials Committee and a consultant for VetOracle Telecardiology. His current research interests are focused on congenital heart disease neonatal death in puppies, and owner-reported quality of life in cats treated for cardiomyopathy. He is co-host and producer of The Animal Heartbeat, the world’s only veterinary cardiology podcast, which has over 60,000 downloads across 123 territories by the end of its third season, for which he was jointly awarded the UK Bright Minds 2024 Industry Influencer Award.
