Cytology of the internal organs - let’s take a look inside!

Cytology of the internal organs:

This comprehensive course will give you all the information you need to know for the cytological examination of the most common changes affecting internal organs in dogs and cats, with particular attention to neoplastic lesions. The organs that will be covered include the thoracic district (e.g mediastinum, lung) and the abdominal cavity (e.g. liver, spleen, pancreas, gastrointestinal and genito-urinary tract).

Clinical case challenges and diagnostic algorithms will also be provided to help you understand the concepts presented and to consolidate your knowledge regarding the cytology of the internal organs.

This course is mainly targeted to veterinarians or vet students interested in learning more about the cytology of the internal organs.

The cytology of internal organs course explores the following topics:

  • Module 1: Cytology of the thoracic organs (lung, mediastinum, heart)
  • Module 2: Cytology of liver and spleen
  • Module 3: Cytology of the gastrointestinal tract
  • Module 4: Cytology of the genito-urinary tract
  • Module 5:Cytology of glands (mammary, thyroid, pancreas, adrenal)
  • Module 6:Cytology cases
  • Module 7:Digital cytology cases
  • Module 8:Final MCQ exam to gain your CPD certificate

This cytology course also contains a selection of digital cytology cases. This is a brand-new feature, in collaboration with Heska Digital telecytology allows you to visualise the smear at the computer having the same experience and freedom as sitting in front of the microscope. We strongly believe this is the best way to learn cytology as, when solving clinical cases from pictures, you are biased by the fact the pathologist has selected for you the most relevant fields.
