Course Overview
Oncology Refresher – Part 4: Cancer is commonly diagnosed in pets in general practice. Thanks to tremendous advances in the treatment of small animal cancer you can help pets to continue to spend more good quality time with their families despite their diagnosis of a potentially life shortening disease.
This course will review risk factors for development of cancer in pets and guide you through principles of correct biopsy technique selection in order to obtain a timely and appropriate diagnosis. You will learn about common haematological paraneoplastic syndromes and coagulopathies that may represent the first presenting sign of cancer or complication. The course will then cover canine melanocytic tumours and histiocytic sarcomas that often present diagnostic and treatment challenges in their management with a practical approach and tips to their diagnosis and treatment. Management of canine T cell lymphoma and alimentary lymphoma will also be discussed through the presentation of clinical cases.
Oncology Refresher part 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 can be taken individually and in any order.
