Course Overview
Oncology Refresher – Part 5: Cancer is commonly diagnosed in pets in general practice. Thanks to tremendous advances in the treatment of small animal cancer you can help pets to continue to spend more good quality time with their families despite their diagnosis of a potentially life shortening disease.This course will review the indications and application of clinical staging and the role of diagnostic imaging in the management of pets with cancer. You will learn about common paraneoplastic syndromes that present as biochemical abnormalities and may represent the first presenting sign of cancer or complication. The course will then cover feline melanocytic tumours & Ocular Melanomas and intra-tumoral Therapy for mast cell tumours included with tigilanol tiglate and steroids. You will also learn about Mesothelioma and Cardiac Neoplasia that often present diagnostic and treatment challenges in their management with a practical approach and tips to their diagnosis and treatment.
