What people say about us

This course encouraged me to start chemotherapy in my practice
Florin Delureanu MRCVS, DVM, GpCert/GPcert SAS, OV
Really useful knowledge which can be applied in General practice. Course tutor is great, takes time to answer any questions - there is normally something on a course that you are not sure about and it is good to be able to ask, don‘t feel like you‘re being judged! Excellent value for money.

A really useful, excellent and well presented course with great support from the tutor.

Course Overview

Oncology Refresher – Part 2: Cancer is commonly diagnosed in pets in general practice. Thanks to tremendous advances in the treatment of small animal cancer you can help pets to continue to spend more good quality time with their families despite their diagnosis of a potentially life shortening disease.

Oncology Refresher – Part 2 starts by shedding light on common misconceptions about cancer that may negatively affect cancer care delivery; common queries about the causes of cancer are also covered. This is followed by a practical overview of the use of electrochemotherapy, a patient friendly and cost-effective treatment for the effective management of any tricky cutaneous tumour. The course will then cover five of the most common canine and feline cancer types with a practical approach to their diagnosis and current treatment including both curative intent and palliative cost-effective options.

Oncology Refresher part 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 can be taken individually and in any order.

Module 1. Dispelling the Myths of Cancer
Module 2. Electrochemotherapy for Pets
Module 3. Soft Tissue Sarcomas Beyond Surgery
Module 4. Osteosarcoma Beyond Amputation and Euthanasia
Module 5. Guide to Canine Mammary Tumours
Module 6. Guide to Feline Mammary Tumours
Module 7. Melanoma and Cancer Immunotherapy

This course is designed as a refresher CPD course and is composed of a series of modules, with each module containing a recorded video webinar, notes to download and keep, plus clinical cases to deepen your understanding. The webinars are not live and can be viewed whenever works best for you.

Tutored courses run with a tutor for three weeks (the advertised dates), plus you then get continued access for a further 11 months (so 12 months in total). You can do our courses at your own pace and at times that suit you. Nothing has to be done at set times, so the courses are perfect for a world-wide audience.

Tutored courses are supplemented by a discussion forum where you can ask the tutor questions and debate topics relevant to your daily practice – this forum operates for the three weeks of the advertised course dates. Total course access is 12 months. Courses are completed with an MCQ exam (giving you 8 hours of CPD) which can be taken at any time during the 12 months the course is running.
