Surgical ear diseases of the dog – an overview

Ear disease, particularly otitis externa, is commonly encountered in the dog. Otitis
externa that is poorly responsive to medical management will result in secondary
changes to the ear canal and often requires surgical intervention. Other less commonly
encountered conditions of the canine ear, including trauma, neoplasia and diseases
of the middle ear, may also necessitate surgical management. This article will review
the common surgical ear diseases of the dog along with the surgical techniques
frequently employed and possible complications
